The Flying Cod – Ridiculously Good Honestly? Some of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. The batter was perfectly crispy, the fish was actually fresh, and the chips were proper—thick, golden, and somehow all cooked right. No sogginess. No disappointment. Just really, really good food done properly. Can’t fault it. Would go back without thinking twice.

When I went there for the first time on the weekend had fabulous fresh fish and chips with lovely fruity curry. When I went for my second visit and had lovely fresh food again. The prices were very reasonable and plenty to choose from on the menu. The staff were fabulous. I Intend to make this my regular chip shop.

From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality from the incredible staff—especially Ricky and JasKaren, who go above and beyond to make every visit feel like you're among friends. SO, What about the food? The consistency here is nothing short of remarkable. Every order is cooked fresh, and you can taste the difference. The quality of ingredients speaks for itself, this isn’t your average run of the mill chip shop relying on cheap fillers. Every bite reflects a commitment to high-grade produce, and it shows in the flavors and textures of each dish. The real star of the show however !! MUST be their Homemade Corned Beef Rissole (Thanks Jaskarens mom) it’s simply to die for. Crispy on the outside, perfectly seasoned, and meltingly tender on the inside, it’s a masterclass in comfort food that will keep you coming back for more. You would have to eat 3 Greggs Pasties to make the same amount of corned beef. Even the sauces deserve their own moment of praise. They’re not just an afterthought but are clearly crafted with care, filled with rich flavors, and the perfect complement to every dish on the menu. In a world where consistency in food quality can be hard to come by, The Frying Cod stands tall. Every visit feels like the first, with food that’s always cooked to perfection and service that’s second to none. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this place is a must-visit. The menu is simple, the food is simple which makes for eating a very pleasant and comfortable trip down memory lanes of times past in simpler days.

Love coming here. Food is always fresh and the portions are very generous! The chips are always lovely, and not had a bad bag yet. If you live around Porth (or within 5 miles), pop in or get a delivery, you won't be disappointed! The staff are always chatty and have a smile on their faces.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ricky is a legend! Walked in and felt right at home straight away. Chips and gravy? Next level – absolutely banging. Already counting down the days until I get my hands on sausage and chips next time. If you want proper food with proper vibes, this is the spot!

My favourite chip shop is/was Beales in Porthcawl but omg The Frying Cod tonight was amazing we had fish and chips😋 It came boxed up the chips weren't greasy no chips sticking together and the fish was out of this world skinless and boneless with big flakes of fish lightly battered which tasted absolutely delicious. Really enjoyed and great value for money.

Very nice food it was cooked very quickly and seasoned very well, the staff were also friendly and service was good I would highly recommend
